👉 Register for Free. How to Diagnose Sleep Apnea Faster in Primary Care – FREE Webinar by Dr. Audrey Wells. – Friday, April 24 at 12 PM ET
Having trained in Alabama and practiced Sleep Medicine for over 30 years cumulative time in Alabama, Montana, now Georgia in a private practice setting, as well as in Florida, at a VA Medical Center, I have had the good fortune to help thousands of people with their sleep disorders. I like to make my patients comfortable and to listen intently to their descriptions of their symptoms. Finding the intervention that best suits each person individually is the goal of my medical advice. The doctor and the patient are always a team.
Regina Ledford, DNP, FNP-BC is a doctorally prepared family nurse practitioner, board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. She graduated from the Graceland University Family Nurse Practitioner program in 2008. Subsequently, she attained the Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from Graceland University in 2014. Prior to becoming a nurse practitioner, she served her patients as a licensed practical nurse and subsequently as a registered nurse.
She began working in the field of sleep medicine in 1996, becoming one of the first registered nurses in the nation to certify as a registered polysomnographic technologist (sleep tech) in 1998. Subsequently, she advanced her education and knowledge in pursuing her mission to improve the sleep health of her patients. She has decades of experience evaluating and treating sleep/wake disorders, including obstructive sleep apnea, central sleep apnea, insomnia, restless legs syndrome, bruxism, narcolepsy, shift-work sleep disorder, and other circadian disorders. She is highly skilled at providing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I). She helps individuals obtain and adjust to using CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure), when needed. She can also assist with referrals for sleep apnea treatment alternatives, when CPAP is not tolerated.
She has served individuals from each age group, from toddlers to centurions. She believes that everyone is unique and she invites her patients to create a team, working together to optimize their individualized, comprehensive, and mutually agreed upon sleep/wake treatment plan. She enjoys working with individuals across time to optimize their sleep health. She also respects those who choose to keep visit times as brief and infrequent as possible to meet their sleep health needs. She embraces telehealth as an opportunity to meet her patients in their personal space, improving access and enhancing care.
She describes sleep medicine as her passion, second only to her faith and her family. When she is not busy improving the sleep health of those she feels blessed to serve, she spends time with her husband on their small family farm in Indiana. She enjoys gardening, cooking, reading, listening to gospel music, and spending time with her family. She finds peace and joy in nature and enjoys spending time outdoors.
